Current Favorite Movies

My current favorite movies

  • American Made - short movie about an Indian family in America, struggling with a conflict in values. Available from Spiritual Cinema Circle
  • Ocean's Twelve - Steven Soderbergh
  • vishwa tulasi - Sumathy Ram
  • Se7en - David Fincher - The chilling story of a psychopath (or an extremely intelligent but unforgiving, unflinching man) who kills people who are each guilty of the seven sins - gluttony, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and wrath. Two detectives try to hunt down this man - will they be successful? The script of this movie is very tight, with details worked down to very fine levels.

Current Favorite Music

My current favorites in music

  • vizhiyum vizhiyum from Chaturangam - Vidyasagar - ?? - Harini and Madhu Balakrishnan
  • Gladiator - Battle Theme - Hanz Zimmer
  • tharisA kedakkura from Neranja Manasu - Karthikraja - Snehan - Karthikraja (really beautiful song - only sour point being KR's tamil pronounciation)
  • enna petha Athannu from Karagattakkari - Ilaiyaraja - Ilaiyaraja - Ilaiyaraja (triplet :) )
  • gummiyadi from Chellamae - Harris Jeyaraj - ?? - Sandhya
  • nenjam ellAm from Aayudha ezhuthu - Rahman - Vairamuthu - Adnan Sami, Sujatha
  • He's back from Spiderman 2 - Danny Elfman
  • machan pEru madhura from madhura - Vidyasagar - ?? - Shankar Mahadevan
  • arjunaru villu - Vidyasagar - Kapilan - Sukhwinder Singh, Manikka Vinayagam (really great tune. Lyrics are little violent, but are very good in many places. I wish that someone other than SS had sung this song - his tone borders mockery at some places)
  • Stinking cigar closing titles - Srikanth - Udhaya Kuzhandhaivelu - Alisha (wow!! This is an amazing song and sounds very professional. This is from a short movie directed by Arun and composed by Srikanth. You must check this out)
  • sandai kozhi from Sullan - Vidyasagar - Na Muthukumar -Shankar Mahadevan. I think it is a standard now that all dappanguthu songs must be sung by SM. The use of an urumi like instrument when the chorus sings "aye sulla vaa sulla" really gets the adrenaline pumping!! Lyrics are OK overall, but during the pallavi, they give a real 'pettai song' feeling. Vidyasagar really stands out with his composition of these numbers.
